I'm curious about hearing more about this subject from "officials". Especially, that they are not thrilled to answer in that thread:

Aion™ Online :: Allgemeine Diskussion - Fear the power of NCSofts RANDOMBanHammer!

(i'm not the person in question)

Looking into this. Hopefully I'll be able to return with a few answers to the questions popping up here.

For me that clearly is playing the market, but looking at the many rage posts here it seems for some "playing the market" means you are not allowed to have a noteworthy effect on the market.

If it's not allowed to "manipulate" the market with buying/selling how can the player find out when he's buying/selling too much, so gets banned for it?
I see how this could affect other players' pocket depth, but some of my best days back in Lineage II were when in various ways fighting the players or clans that did the same. Now, Aion is a very different game but carries an economy on its own. This is capitalism at its finest, or at its worst -- I guess you'll need to be the judge. My answer would ultimately be that I'm not aware of there being a specific point where you buy/sell too much.

Both Faelan and I made a couple of further replies in the thread, and I'll highlight a specific part which I think is worth mentioning yet again here (sorry Chalky... you may now close the thread :P).

Whenever we get the question "Is this bannable?" we have to rely on the User Agreement. The User Agreement (or "EULA" as it's also being referred to) is basically "the law". While it is always there and always in effect, it's important to know why it's there. It's not there so that we can swirl the ban-mace around wildly, it's there so that we can ensure that the game world is enjoyable. We are unlikely to set out on a crusade against someone creating a small harmless game utility (that doesn't provide advantages) or earning a couple of Kinah on the market. We will however not hesitate to take action when very serious things are at stake, and this could potentially refer to botting, unfair advantage-giving, exploits, or perhaps the active and through dubious methods destruction of an entire economy.

"We do currently not see a reason to ban players for buying an item at a low price and selling at a higher price. It's a game mechanic. If obvious malicious activity severely detrimental to the game sticks its nose out on a greater scale, it may however be covered by paragraphs in the User Agreement. Make sure to read it through if you're unsure."

I hope it makes sense.
